Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Thermally Conductive Enhanced Paraffin/Gypsum Composites

The low thermal conductivity of gypsum-based composites containing phase change materials (PCMs) has limited their application in construction materials. In this study, the mechanical and properties microstructures paraffin (PA)/gypsum iron powder, copper expanded graphite were characterized by a universal testing machine, thermogravimetry, differential scanning calorimetry, electron microscopy. PA/gypsum had optimal when PA content was 20 wt.%. compressive flexural strengths 9.46 MPa 3.57 MPa, respectively. When powder increased, densities porosities did not largely change. average density porosity 1.17 g/cm3 46%, composite 8 wt.% optimal. A temperature 48.8 °C obtained added to composite. conductivities lower than those with or graphite. Parts coarse calcium sulfate dihydrate crystals present at interfaces between gypsum PA, which indicated that growth affected powder.
